Specialist Committees and Working Groups

Special Interest Groups organised and supervised the NCT's work in each specialist area, maintaining a register of members qualified to take part in the NCT's work in the specialist area and entitled to vote on any matter concerning NCT's work in that area. The Special Interest Groups included (as of 1994):

Special Interest Group A: Teachers' Panel

Special Interest Group B: Breastfeeding Promotion Group

Special Interest Group C: Postnatal Committee

Special Interest Group D: Education Committee

Special Interest Group E: NCT Maternity Services Committee

Special Interest Group F: Research and Information Group

This section also includes the papers of other NCT Working Groups and Special Interest Groups, including Parentability and the Voluntary Work and Expansion Committee. The Voluntary Work and Expansion Committee was disbanded in 1985. In 1999, ParentAbility became an independent organisation.

Minutes relating to these committees can be found within SA/NCT/D/10. This series contains minutes of various specialist committees and working groups kept by individual members. These include minutes from different specialist committees that an NCT member was a part of, and meetings attended by/circulated to that member; as such, they are not a complete body of minutes relating to each committee, but instead reflect the involvement of an individual in the activities of the NCT. In order to not lose this provenance, minutes have been catalogued according to their creator, rather than divided up and reunited with the relevant committee.
