Biographical note
Initially, the Casualties Union was run by an Executive Committee and three sub-committees, overseen by a Council. The first president was Mr W. P Robinson (1942-1945), followed by the surgeon Brigadier W. Rowley Bristow (1945-1947).
A new constitution was introduced in 1969 and the role of "Founder" was introduced for Eric Claxton. The Union was then restructured in the early 1980s so that a management committee oversaw several sub-committees: Executive; Membership; Finance; Publicity; and Training along with central liaison with the regional branches groups.
The constitution was revised again in the early 1990s.
