Biographical note

Casualties Union was formed in 1942. The constitution went through several revision over the decades, with the first being in the early 1950s. In early 1969 the constitution was changed whilst the founder Eric Caxton was ill and had temporarily stepped back. He was displeased that he had not been fully consulted and that the position of Chairman was altered from being a senior executive officer, to being chair of an advisory body. In autumn 1969 he resigned as Chairman and the Committee created the post of “Founder” for him in 1970.
