Subject sequence

These files of correspondence generally concern the administration of the WHMM, arranged chronologically by subject. It differs from the CO/Ear, CO/Abc and CO/Chr series, because they include a great deal of correspondence with researchers or visitors to the Museum. Although the core dates of the series are 1931-1954, a few files within date from as early as 1925 and as late as 1962. This series includes some sub-groups of correspondence: booksellers, British and foreign; conferences and congresses attended by members of staff or involving the WHMM; executors of medical men requesting photographs, papers and objects; exhibitions on a small scale held outside the WHMM [papers relating to the organisation of large scale exhibitions are filed in the series WA/HMM/EX]; presentations; visitors ; WHMM premises BW&Co correspondence [filed out of alphabetical order, at the end of the series]
