They were purchased in 1945, with part of Stone's autograph collection, from the widow of Dr John Henry Watson.
Ownership note
T M Stone (d. 1894) acquired these letters in 1877 from Annie Austin, a daughter of the Revd G C Jenner, and heiress of her cousin R F Jenner, the son of Edward Jenner.
