Description

Letters from Pasteur to Jules Raulin (1836-1896), his first assistant, afterwards Sous-Directeur of Pasteur's Laboratoire de Chimie Physiologique at the Ecole Normale and Professor of Chemistry at Lyons. Included are letters concerning Raulin's studies and his thesis Etudes chimiques sur la végétation (1870); the building of Pasteur's new laboratory; their joint work on the diseases of silkworms; Pasteur's studies of beer and fermentation, with an account of his visit to a London brewery (item 22).
