Biographical note

Amphlett, Sir Richard Paul (1809-1883), judge, born in Shropshire. He attended Cambridge University. In 1834, he was called to the bar of Lincoln's Inn. His legal interests were legal education and the reform of bankruptcy law. Amphlett sat in many tax cases. Amphlett suffered partial paralysis following a stroke in 1877. He died in 1883.
