Right-hand side of plate: Reproduction of a photograph showing environmental improvements inside a clothing factory including natural lighting with use of skylights and a double washing trough with spray faucets. Left-hand side of plate: Photograph of a half tone print, after a photograph, of a double sided sink with spray taps, with caption underneath and additional text to the sides. Glass plate made for Sir George Newman (1870-1948), English public health physician and first Chief Medical Officer to the Ministry of Health in England on the topic of 'Health and Hygiene in the Factory and Workshop'. These images have been reproduced from Hope, E.W., Industrial hygiene and medicine; London : Baillière, Tindall and Cox, 1923.
