Description

Photograph of a Japanense somen mask, a form of samuri facial armour covering the whole face. The object was misidentified when it was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum as a full face iron executioner's mask. It is still held by Wellcome Collection and was previously on display in the Medicine Man gallery. Related images: M0005113
