'My first research enterprise. Hydroceles 1946' (work in Africa)

Notebook (foolscap size) entitled 'Hydroceles' recording 200 cases of hydrocele. Later labelled by Burkitt as 'my first research project 1946'. Information includes names of patients, their administrative area ('saza'), geographical area ('gomb' or gombola), type (R/L), date case seen, details of operation given, and result. Burkitt lists seven common features of the cases and charts the percentage of cases in each locality. Cases appear to cover areas in northern Uganda (Lira and Moroto districts).

The first 100 cases are entered at the front of the volume and cases 101-200 are entered from the back of the volume.

This research was reported to the Ugandan Medical Mission and in The Lancet.
