Photograph of an oil painting by Jan Steen, depicting a brain operation for stones in the head. This reproduction was made during the VI International Congress for the History of Medicine held in Leiden 1927 at the Exposition d'art Medico-Historique and is described as Tableaux [Painting] 35, L'operation des pierres de tete, in the exhibition catalogue. The original painting is held by the Boymans Museum, Rotterdam.

A copy of the exhibition catalogue has been digitised by the National library of the Netherlands Catalogue d'une collection d'art medico-historique.

Catalogue data comes from a combination of entries in the original glass plate registers, metadata created when the glass plates were digitised in the early 2000s and enhancements made by the cataloguer in 2020.
