Collection of cookery, household and medical receipts, in different hands, c. 1840s-1890s
There is a prescription for a Miss C. Colles from (?) 'WHD' of Great Malvern [possibly William Henry Dawson, a doctor who practised there for many years] stuck to (loose) flyleaf of volume
Cookery recipes begin from the front (ff 1-36r) and medical and household recipes from the back (36v-45). There are a large number of loose inserted items including a couple of pages of 'Conundrums' and 'Puzzles' (mostly between ff. 7v and 8), as well as recipes stuck in. There is a recipe for 'Most Excellent Buns' attributed to 'Miss Acton' (ff. 22v-23r) (Eliza Acton's Modern Cookery was first published in 1845), and two of the inserted items are written across a circular relating to the change of editorship of Fraser's Magazine in July 1879. An inserted recipe for 'Spiced Beef' bears the date Dec/91.
