Many of the offprints and reprints come with personal messages from the author(s) to Smithells, either written on the top page or in appended correspondence. Includes some original reprints and offprints by Smithells and his colleague E. P. Quibell.

The material bears numbered labels running 0900-0940. A subsequent inventory by the Thalidomide Trust used a different system, JT001-JT041.

Includes German language material, with English translation.
