![Date of Application, 10th Feb,, 1904—Accepted, 10th Mar,, 1904 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION. t Improved Galvanic Curative Appliances for Human Use. I, Frank Tomlinson, of 13, Newhampton Road West, Wolverhampton, in the County of Stafford, Traveller, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: — *3 This invention relates to appliances for creating an electric current or influ¬ ence through portions of the human body, as for instance through the limbs. The invention is more especially directed towards the cure or alleviation of rheumatism, although it is calculated to benefit the wearer generally. According io this invention, two discs of dissimilar metals, as for instance 10 copper and zinc, are applied to the soles of the feet. That is to say a copper disc is applied to the sole of the right foot whilst a zinc disc is applied to the sole of the left foot, or vice versa. The effect of these dissimilar metals when applied to the flesh and acted upon by the acids which are secreted from the pores of the skin, is to set up a galvanic action and a transmission of a current 15 of electricity from one metal disc to the other metal disc and consequently the limbs of the wearer are subjected to such electrical current. The said discs of dissimilar metals are preferably of about one and a half inches in diameter by about one-sixteenth of an inch in thickness, or there¬ abouts, and are provided with perforations by which they may be stitched or 20 laced to the inside of the stocking or sock. The said discs are disposed under the sole of the foot. The discs should be frequently cleaned and denuded of any deposit or corro¬ sion upon their surface. Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed I declare that what I claim is : — 1. As a means of creating a galvanic action upon the limbs and body of the wearer, the employment of discs of dissimilar metals, applied to the feet and • making contact with the skin, whereby an electrical current is set up between 30 such discs and traverses the limbs and body of the wearer, as described. 2. As a new article of manufacture, a sock, stocking or similar foot cover¬ ing, provided with a disc of metal which is attached on the inside thereof, the discs of a pair of such socks or the like being of dissimilar metals, for the purpose described. 35 Dated this 8th day of February 1904. t/ J.
