Minute Book: Board of Directors; AGMs

This volume contains minutes of meetings of the board of directors of the company, and minutes of the Annual General Meeting, often out of sequence in the volume. Board meetings took place on an irregular basis, there sometimes being no meeting for several months while at other times there being more than one meeting in a week. Later in the volume a more regular pattern emerges, with meetings held every few months. Minutes have been fixed into the volume in a haphazard fashion - the minutes of latest date, 11 Oct 1950, appear on pp. 79-80

Many meetings were held simply for administrative reasons, and transact little other business. For example, the meeting of 18 June 1924 (p. 27) adopted the report of the general manager and the minutes of the last meeting, and then closed. Other meetings simply confirmed transactions by the company. When longer minutes survive, meetings seem to have discussed the administration of the company, staff and product performance, manufacturing, and related matters.

Many copies of minutes have been signed by the chairman.

The company changed its name to Pressure Aerosols Filling Company Ltd in 1950 (pp. 79-80)

The removal of company premises and staff from Newark, Nottinghamshire, to Manchester and London, in 1925, is noted, along with consequent payments to staff, on pp. 38-39.

There are no minutes for 1944-1945.
