Left-hand side on plate: Reproduction of a photograph of a woman identified as a Nganga Nkisi, a person who can divine the cause of illness and misfortune through spirits and inhabited objects, taken in Kisangani, with caption titled "Nganga Nkissi - The Witch Doctor: Stanleyville". Right-hand side of plate: Reproduction of a photograph of N'gouna, Chief of the Kel Entsar, a group of the Tuareg people on the Niger river, Sudan, with caption underneath. These images were reproduced from The National Geographic Magazine.
