Photograph of a woman's right hand illustrating a case of "pallagra" or pellagra, now understood to be a disease due to deficiency of the vitamin niacin, taken at Napsbury Hospital, Hertfordshire. The photographic "index" print has various catalogue information on the reverse, including former negative numbers (HMM C 327; 4638), the date the negative was taken (10 August 1913) and further remarks.
