Description
“Circoncizione di Mehemet (sic) 3°: tradotta del turco”. A late 17th cent. transcript of perhaps a contemporary (1579) account, extracted from a Collection of transcripts relating to Turkey, in Italian. This belonged to Frederic North, 5th Earl of Guildford (1783-1827), and was later bought by John Lee (1763-1868), Antiquary and Scientist.

Biographical note
Mohammed III was circumcized at the age of 13 'ad imitazione d'Ismaele'. He succeeded his Father Amurath III in 1595.
