Description

Photograph of a woman showing the effects of lip plugs on the skin taken in Sudan. This reproduction was made from the 4th Report of the Wellcome Tropical Research Laboratories in 1911, specifically an essay by Captain R G Anderson of the Egyptian Army entitled 'Some tribal customs in their relation of the Nyam-Nyam and Gour people inhabiting the Eastern Bahr-el-Ghazal'.
