Reproduction of a facsimile of a hand-sketched map of Southern India by Sir Clements R. Markham, 1865. The map shows the "Anamullay" [Anaimalai] Hills and the "Pulney" [Palani] Hills which situates the map in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in Southern India. The key at the bottom illustrates the map was used to mark where areas of "cinchona or coffee" were located, as well as Markham's track or route. The map was possibly reproduced as part of the facsimiles lent by The Linnean Society of London and exhibited in Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930 hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The facsimile is listed as exhibit no. 1036 in the souvenir catalogue, and is not held by Wellcome Collection.
