Description

Reproduction of two photographs of a man using a rubbing board oracle and a gourd of water to wet the lid. The photographs were published in Evans-Pritchard, E. E: Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic Among the Azande, Oxford, The Clarendon Press, 1937. Copies of the book plates were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number PHO 10961).
