Description
Black and white photograph of the Cinchona plantation, Ootacamund, in Tamil Nadu showing plantation workers taking bark from Cinchona Offincinalis trees. The original photograph was lent by Professor A. Tschirch (of the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Berne) for Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930, an exhibition hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930, but the exhibit number has not been identified. The item is not held by Wellcome Collection.
