Biographical note
Sir George Watt was an eminent botanist and had a distinguished career working for the Indian Government. He retired to the town of Lockerbie and became a Director at Crichton Royal Institution. He was also Convenor of the Garden Committee and was involved in the development of the hospital gardens including the glasshouses and the rock garden.
Ownership note
The material was deposited by Richard Watt (Sir George Watt's grandson), but it is not clear when the deposit was made.
