Description

Reproduction of a page from an Anglo Saxon herbal depicting the plant 'Solago minora' (heliotrope), a scorpion and a snake. The plant was said to have been an antidote to the bite and sting of these creatures. The reproduction is from the original mauscript, Cotton Vitellius C. III, folio 40r, held by the British Library (previously in the British Museum) and is not held by Wellcome Collection.
