Description
Title page: "Dinner to Dr Balfour[,] Director of the Chemical and Bacteriological Research Laboratories of the Gordon Memorial College, Khartoum / Henry S Wellcome in the Chair / Prince's Restaurant Piccadilly Monday, December 8th, 1902".
Two copies of a printed programme that includes details of the seating plan, menu, music, and toasts. It also includes a short description of the Chemical and Bacteriological Research Laboratories of the Gordon Memorial College, Khartoum and pages of illustration and text on the belief system of the Ancient Egyptians.
Title-page is preceded by the statement: "A few objects selected from the collection made by Mr Wellcome during his recent visit to the Sudan, also a few photographs taken by him during his journey, are exhibited in the reception and dining halls." (No photographs in the programme.)
NB The second copy is without its soft card cover, and without the folding sheet attached giving table plan and list of guests.
