Browne's letters home to his father, Nellie, Winifred, Ivy and Max

Covering progress at the hospital, medical exams, progress of Alastair and Christopher, relations with the BMS and criticism of representative Dr Clow, missionary and medical work, disillusionment with past colleagues who must have spread bad opinions about Yakusu to the BMS, changes at the hospital, his father's 80th birthday in 1954 and Stanley's views on parents, concerns about where his real duty lies, involvement in onchocerciasis and leprosy, visit from Dr Cochrane world famous leprologist, less and less time spent at the Yakusu hospital, more involvement with and treatment of lepers by mid-1950s, clash of loyalty re the children and his work in Africa (all children were being brought up in England), visits to Yalisombo, news of Winifred's activities, proposed BMS leprosy projects lack of progress and his loss of confidence in them 1956 and talk of resigning. Browne mentions a lot of problems and 'trouble-makers' in this latter period
