Photograph of a boy from the Mekeo region wearing 'tight-lacing' to denote he has passed through initiation ceremonies and is of an age to marry, Papua New Guinea. This reproduction was taken from Haddon, Alfred C: Head-Hunters - Black, White and Brown, London: Methuen, 1901.
