About this work

Description

The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Publicity 'fan photo'. Frankie Howerd (1905-1989) was one of the most popular British radio and television comedians from the late 1940s to the 1980s. Despite his camp demeanour, and the fact of his homosexuality being an open secret in 'the business', his was essentially a closeted life. He lived with his life-partner and manager Dennis Haymer (1930-2009), and they are buried together".
