The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Real photo postcard depicts a couple in summer dress before an elaborate painted drop. The drag character is dressed in the short full skirts, showy jewellery and high plumed hat of the type popularised by the Cockney music hall star Marie Lloyd, in her ‘coster girl’ characters . Before her death in 1922 , Miss Lloyd had become perhaps the best known and best loved star of the British Music Hall stage, and she was a frequent candidate for burlesque. The card has an interesting postal history. Late usage (1957) , and used [as] an exchange card by a member of a prototype postcard collecting club ‘PC World’."
