Right-hand side of plate: Photograph of a young girl wearing brass spiral anklets and holding an umbrella taken in Ibo, Nigeria. This reproduction was taken from another photograph of this image accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum (PHO 1337) purchased from Dr. Gustaf Bolinder who took the photograph during his travels in West Africa, 1930-1931. Left-hand side of plate: Photograph by Kurt Lubinski of a Konkomba man in profile wearing a chain-mail head-dress which is woven into hair during puberty and cannot be removed. This reproduction was taken from another photograph of this image accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum (PHO 10541).
