The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The French film actor Jacque Catelain (1897-1965) in a 'Cinemagazine' photo postcard, mid- to late-1920s. He is shown in an unidentified 'pansy' role. The 'gay' signifiers here are the heavy make-up, multi-patterned clothing, and man rings on his fingers".
