About this work

Description

The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Publicity postcard for Janet Gaynor (1906-1984) and Charles Farrell (1901?-1990?), actors. Despite their both being married more than once, rumours persisted that this Hollywood marriage between two of the biggest stars of the 1920s and 1930s was of the 'lavender' variety, and that that they were both bisexual".

Elements of the image have been hand-coloured.
