Description

Reproduction of an engraved portrait of Paul Chamberlin (1635-1717), a member of the Chamberlin family to whom the invention of the obstetrical forceps is attributed. The M series registersuggests that the date on the engraving should read 1688 instead of 1658. The item was previously held in the Prints & Drawings department at the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum, but could not be located in Wellcome Collection.
