Biographical note
From the Dudley Buxton Collection, with his signature 'Univ. Coll. Hosp. 1875' on the half-title. He obtained his M.D. at University College, London in 1883 and from 1885 onwards his main interest was in anaesthetics, and he was anaesthetist and lecturer to University College Hospital, the Royal Dental Hospital, and several other hospitals.
