File consists of papers and general correspondence related to the seminar on, "Post Penicillin Antibiotics: From Acceptance to Resistance?", which was held at the Wellcome Institute on 12 May 1998. The seminar was part of the Wellcome Witnesses to Twentieth Century Medicine meetings also known as the Witness Seminars. The transcript of this seminar was published as Volume 6 of the Witness Seminar series, E.M. Tansey, and L.A. Reynolds (editors), Post Penicillin Antibiotics: From Acceptance to Resistance?, (London: Wellcome Trust, 2000).
Details of the seminar correspondence, primarily between the chair (Sir Christopher Booth), organisers of the meeting (Dr Robert Bud and Dr Tilli Tansey), editors of the published transcript (E.M. Tansey and L.A. Reynolds) and others include:
List of attendees, suggested outline of meeting, control sheets concerning feedback on transcripts, marketing leaflets and a publicity pamphlet for the meeting. Also details of a dinner following the meeting.
Handwritten notes and copies of e-mails regarding the organisation of the meeting and notes between the organisers and editors regarding; the transcript and accommodating people's comments; and publishing permissions.
Also materials distributed at the seminar including; a copy of two tables from G.A.J. Ayliffe, "Use of Antibiotics and Resistance" in the book, A.M. Geddes and J.D. Williams (editors) Current Antibiotic Therapy, (Edinburgh: Churchill Livingstone, 1973); a typed document titled, "Cephalosporin" by Dr Basil Bard; a table attributed to Professor G.T. Stewart, titled, "Methicillin-Resistant Staph Aureus (M.R.S.A): Archaic Isolates"; and a table attributed to Professor D.A. Mitchison, titled, "Results of First trial (1947) of Streptomycin in the Treatment of Pulmonary Tuberculosis".
