Biographical note
Desmond Rantzen Hanbury joined the Indian Medical Service in 1938 and served until August 1947, when the IMS was dissolved as a result of Indian Independence. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. During World War II he served with PAIFORCE in Iraq and Iran and was involved with the Malaria Survey. He subsequently went into general practice in Sussex.
