Biographical note
The European Drosophila Mapping Project was a precursor to the European Drosophila Genome Project that aimed to produce a physical map of the Drosophila melanogaster genome. It began in 1988 and involved four laboratories based in Cambridge, Dundee, Crete and Madrid. In the mid 1990s the focus shifted to genome sequencing and the European Drosophila Genome Project began.
