About this work
Description
The establishment of the Development Committee by Cooper, McDougall & Robertson Ltd derives from the management practice of The Wellcome Foundation Ltd, as highlighted in a Memorandum by C M Carr: "The organisation of Development activities and review of progress is in many respects one of the most difficult problems of Company Management, because of the fugitive nature of many matters that arise and the need for close co-operation and review by many of the Departments concerned in conducting the Company's business. We already have our own methods for dealing with this, which I suggest need review, not only in the light of the organisation changes contemplated, but also on account of our new relationship with The Wellcome Foundation and our new circumstances and opportunities. Dr Wheeler has kindly discussed with me the methods adopted by The Wellcome Foundation...." ("Extract from Mr Carr's Memorandum on 'Organisation' dated 12th July, 1960" - WF/C/E/05/12/1).
Included with the Managing Director's copies of the Minutes are related copy-Minutes to other Committees - e.g. the Development Committee (Veterinary), or the Products Committee (Pressure Packs) - which are separately available in the Managing Directors' papers.
