Description

Photograph of a sledge belonging to Sir Douglas Mawson (1882-1958), Australian geologist and Arctic explorer, with the caption "The half sledge which Dr. Mawson dragged for 31 days after the death of his two companions". The item was part of a polar exhibition held in the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum's central hall in July 1930.
