Notes

This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Sado-masochistic imagery: a middle-class man holding a Panama hat is being beaten by a working class man with a flail, the aggressor wearing riding boots, with sleeves rolled up to reveal muscular arms. The significance of the scene, and the context in which it was used is unclear".
