About this work

Description

Photographs of L S Penrose covering a range of dates, including formal portraits and informal photographs taken at various functions. Includes two of Penrose with his wife Margaret, and seven photographs of members of the Galton laboratory with Margaret and other colleagues. Also includes three photographs of Penrose's daughter Shirley Victoria (Hodgson) as a child, a photograph of his father James Doyle Penrose and a photograph of L S Penrose with his parents and brothers.



Also includes prints of two paintings by Canadian artist Stella Grier: one of L S Penrose dated 1956 and the other unidentified and undated, possibly of L S Penrose's son, Oliver.
