About this work

Description

These were the printed forms used to indicate the weekly returns of deaths in the York Superintendent Registrar's District These two surviving copies, however, have been used to give consolidated totals for longer periods. One has been used to give total for year ended 1 January 1841, and the other gives total for 13 weeks ending 25 September 1840 Forms are arranged in columns; causes of death are pre-printed and totals entered under relevant cause. There are also columns for age bands: 0 to 15, 15 to 60 and 60 and upwards, plus total under each cause of death. At the bottom of the form it gives total numbers of deaths for the city and country districts At the bottom of each form is printed 'York Medical Society'. For the Year ended Friday 1 January 1841, and for the 13 weeks ending Friday 25 September 1840.
