Description
After Tyrrell's retirement and the closure of the CCU in 1990, Tyrrell began to collect materials for a book on the history of the common cold, contacting past staff and volunteers at the CCU for their recollections. In order to research and write the book, Tyrrell moved to the Centre for Applied Microbiology and Research (CAMR), Porton Down.

Comprises of correspondence and research materials for the writing of the book, including annual reports and statistics. The majority of the series consists of correspondence between Tyrrell and past CCU staff and volunteers requesting their experiences and recollections of the unit.
