Notebook containing lecture, research and other notes on chemistry, materia medica and pharmacy, with several pen and ink sketches of laboratory apparatus and botanical specimens; with copy letters to several correspondents, including Benjamin Hobson (1816–1873), medical missionary at Canton, and George Henry Kendrick Thwaites (1812–1882), botanist in Ceylon; and a memorandum on a visit to Paris made in April 1849 (ff.122v.-123).
