Description

If recovery takes place acute infections and diseases are likely to be recovered from more quickly than chronic ones. An infective agent seems to be more readily destroyed when it is multiplying rapidly than when it is quiescent. Mutations apparently occur only when cell division (mitosis etc) is taking place and are more likely to occur when cell division is very frequent. Question of 'shock' as a mistaken reflex mechanism of harmful instead of helpful (conservative) character
