Mid 14th Century

1 volume ff. iii + 134 + iii. 25 x 17 1/2 cm. On vellum. Modern vellum binding by Zaehnsdorf. Written in a very clear gothic hand, 21 lines to a page, with wide margins. The titles of Johannitius and the Aphorisms are in gold. Other initials in alternate red and blue, and blue and red with marginal ornaments. headings in red. Some wanting from incipits. 2-line initials alternate red flourised with blue and blue with red. Capitals in red and blue. On f. 112 index tab cut in.

Purchased 1911.

Written perhaps in France.

There are some marginal notes by contemporary or 15th cent. hands, in some are added, and below the last f. 100r is the date 1387. Book-place of [Joseph] Frank Payne. From the Payne Collection, No. 405 in Sotheby's Catalogue of 12-14 July, 1911.
