About this work
Description
Tobit stands in the centre, directing a man who is pulling a corpse towards a gravedigger. On the left of Tobit, a family of three look on, grief-stricken. A small child hides in a crevice to the far left. Two youths look on from above. On the right, a young man informs the Ninivite as to what is happening; the latter will betray Tobit's activities to the authorities (the burial of criminals was forbidden in Assyria at this time)
