Bovine pulmonary artery cells

This image shows bovine pulmonary artery cells. The pulmonary artery is the large vessel that takes deoxygenated blood cells from the heart to the lungs. These arterial cells have been visualised using fluorescent labelling. DAPI staining highlights the nucleus (yellow). MitoTracker Red CMXRos is a red-fluorescent dye that has been used to stain mitochondria (blue) and Alexafluor 488 phalloidin is a green fluorescent dye has been used to label F-actin filaments in the cell that make up the cytoskeleton (purple). The colours have been created by inverting the image.
