Description

"Humpty Dumpty exists to question the role of the expert ... in psychology."

"A number of us who have met at various radical psychology events during the past year and are professionally involved in psychological work, decided it was time to produce a magazine involving people who are disillusioned with psychology and what it is doing in the world. We question the validity and relevance of academic psychology in relation to the problems with which we are confronted, and we also question the social function of the psychologist in our society. The aim of HUMPTY DUMPTY is to encourage discussion, clarify strategies of action, and help put people in touch with others thinking along the same lines. We want to be both critical of existing psychology and positive in suggesting alternative lines of action. [...] We would like to involve others in editorial meetings and publish regularly. This differentiates us to some extent from Red Rat, the existing radical psychology magazine, which we see as operating for academics and students rather than for practicing psychologists and 'clients'."--From back cover of no. 1.
