Description
According to the lettering, the Roman altar was formerly in the Villa Farnesina, then passed to Naples: the base is guarded by gryphons and surmounted by rams' heads. The vase was bought in Rome by "[il] cavaliere d'Orset francese". The Etruscan altar was copied from a bas-relief found in Todi
